The seed of this song was planted sometime last year. I have carried the chorus in my heart since July or August maybe. But all I had was the chorus. Tonight the rest came all at once in about 25 minutes. Imagine someone scuffing their shoe on the floor as they hang their head and try really hard not to have to look at God. Imagine their surprise when they find out God was excited to see them. God longed for them. God loves them even though. Maybe a modern take on the prodigal? Hope you like. *shy grin* Let me know what you think. Not too sure about grammar, but its running through my head to music anyway. And I even got rain in there during the spring equinox. LOL
I Want to Run to You
I kind of want to talk to you.
I know it’s been a while,
Been going through a lot of stuff
And you always made me smile.
I know it’s been a rocky road.
I’m not proud of my past.
I’ve done some things that hurt you bad
And I really hate to ask,
But I want to run to you,
Wrap my arms around you
And just come to you
Casting all my fear away,
Forget all my doubt and sadness
And all the times of pain
As I revel in that feeling
More refreshing than the rain.
I want to run to you.
I need someone to hold me
While I sort out what to do.
The ache is tearing me apart,
My soul and body too.
How I want to run to you,
Wrap my arms around you
And just come to you
Casting all my fear away,
Forget all my doubt and sadness
And all the times of pain
As I revel in this feeling
More refreshing than the rain.
I want to run to you.
You say you loved me all along
You’ve been waiting patiently
For me to open up my eyes
To the truth that sets me free.
So I would run to you,
Wrap my arms around you
And just come to you
Casting all my fear away,
Forgetting all my doubt and sadness
And all the times of pain
So I could revel in a feeling
More refreshing than the rain.
I want to run to you.
Who I am and what I’ve done
You love me just the same.
And once again you’re waiting there
When I call your name.
As I run to you,
Wrap my arms around you
And just come to you
Casting all my fear away,
Forgetting all my doubt and sadness
And all the times of pain
As I revel in this feeling
More refreshing than the rain.
I want to run to you.
No matter where my heart leads me,
No matter where I roam,
I finally understand in you
I always have a home
Where I can run to you,
Wrap my arms around you
And just come to you,
Casting all my fear away,
Forgetting all my doubt and sadness
And all the times of pain,
I will revel in this feeling
More refreshing than the rain.
And I will run to you.
